Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate (white, milk, or dark)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar optional
  • ¼ cup holiday sprinkles or crushed candy canes optional
  • ½ cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate: Begin by breaking up your chocolate into small pieces and placing it in a heatproof bowl. You can use dark, milk, or white chocolate depending on your taste. Melt it gently by microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stovetop.
  • Combine the sweetened condensed milk and butter: In a separate saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the butter melts completely, and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  • Mix it all together: Once the butter and condensed milk are combined, pour them into your melted chocolate and stir until everything is well-mixed. The result should be a silky, smooth mixture that’s perfect for candy-making.
  • Add flavor and texture: Now, you can mix in vanilla extract for a bit of holiday flavor. If you’d like to add texture, fold in some chopped nuts or crushed candy canes. The crunch of the nuts or the minty bite of candy canes adds a festive touch.
  • Chill and set: Pour the mixture into a lined baking dish or silicone mold, spreading it evenly. Place the dish in the refrigerator to chill for about 2 hours or until fully set. If you’re in a hurry, you can place it in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Slice and serve: Once the candy has set, remove it from the fridge or freezer. If you used a baking dish, cut the candy into squares. If you used molds, simply pop the candies out. For an extra festive touch, sprinkle on a few more holiday sprinkles or a dusting of powdered sugar.
